Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Wedding :: Leah+Derrick

Sometimes weddings don’t go *exactly* as planned, and the true tell of a gracious bride is how she deals with the situation. So, when I tell you that Leah+Derrick’s Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Wedding was nothing short of amazing – you probably already know how Leah handled things! The entire bridal party prepped for the day at the Tidewater Inn, and the girls room was abuzz with excitement! Leah opted to wait to put her (amazing) gown on until we got the Beach Club, so that none of her guests milling about would see her in it yet. After slipping into her Allure bridal gown, she was ready for her First Look with her dad. He was overjoyed and emotional to see his little girl all grown up & getting married!

When we were set to do the First Look with Leah+Derrick, we discovered that we’d have to wait a bit – Derrick had apparently fallen very ill. Leah was very concerned for her hubby-to-be, but carried on with photos, and took an opportunity to check out the decked out Sunset Ballroom – a vision created by the Vanlandingham Design team, My Flower Box Events, Event Pro, and Kindly RSVP Designs. The room was STUNNING! Derrick was able to muster up the strength for the First Look, and pushed everything aside to marry the love of his life in their intimate ceremony on the roofdeck overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. However, after the ceremony, suffering through family portraits, and the First Dance with his new wife, Derrick had to be taken to the hospital by the best man. Things could have easily gone south for the entire wedding, but between Leah handling the situation graciously, and DJ Russ getting the dance party started, the reception was a blast for the guests! The Maid of Honor, Becky, stood in for the groom during the cake cutting, and even did a choreographed dance with the bride to the Dirty Dancing theme song! In the end, Derrick ended up making it back for the last dance of the night & made it onto the plane the next morning for their Jamaican honeymoon!
