Foster Dog v9.0 :: Gidget

This post has been sitting as a draft for a while now, since it’s been just about a month since she left us!  And we had another foster since Gidget – Mercy, who was our quickest foster to date, as we only had her for 2 nights!   *major blog slacking!*

January 30th, Foster #9, Gidget, got spayed & went to her forever home! She was such an adorable houseguest while we had her, and my love grew for her by the minute! First of all – those EARS!! She is the cutest little snuggle butt, and would be so excited just to throw herself on you & curl up against you for a snooze. When she would wiggle her way to the door or down the steps, she kind of led with her butt because she was turned around to make sure you were following her – it was so funny! And her goofy way of doing “down” – she would throw herself on top of your feet and roll over on her back! Super cute! She loved to play in the snow with Holly, and would throw herself underneath of Holly’s paws to take her out! haha! If there has ever been a danger of foster failing – this one was it! But everything happens exactly how it’s supposed to, and she is now in her forever home with her new mommy, daddy, and doggie brother!

Earlier this week, we had a little photo-shoot to get some glamour shots of the little nugget, and you can just see the sweetness oozing out of her face! Gidget – we love you and know you are going to make your new family very very happy! Happy Belated Adoption Day!

Please consider fostering!!  You are saving LIVES when you do, and it is uber rewarding AND a tax writeoff!!  Check out BARCS, Bella’s Bully Buddies, AARF, the MD SPCA, or Mid-Atlantic Bully Buddies for any kind of dog you are interested in!

And once again – To steal a passage from the Lucky Dog Rescue Blog :: “Fostering is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. It’s given me more joy, laughter, and love than I deserve. At the end, there’s always heartbreak. But never for a second does the sadness outweigh the joy. Never do the tears outweigh the laughter. And never does the pain outweigh the love. Heartbreak heals… but love is forever.”

    Love this post!!! Makes me want to foster even more. I think I am going to pick your brain on it before I actually do it. But I think this is definitely happening. The last quote gave me goosebumps!

    I am loving that last quote too. This is way too sweet. I can’t believe she was adopted just after two nights! So fast!! 🙂

    Your dog photos always make me feel like they’re looking into my soul. Beautiful photos–and I’m sure that’s a big part of why they get adopted so quickly! Keep up the wonderful work!

    She looks like such a sweetheart! I admire you so much for being a puppy foster mom! The dogs who get you are so lucky…and I’m sure you feel lucky to have them!
