Foster Dog v5.0 :: Bubba Bubs

So after I let go of my last foster dog, Gracie Lou, hubs and I agreed to wait until after the new year to take on our next foster dog.  Well, I managed to wait until all of 2 days into the new year to bring home the next one  😉    January 2nd, I walked into BARCS Animal Shelter, and saw Blanco (who I decided to call Bubba Bubs), sick as can be, curled up in his kennel.   For some reason – the sick ones are just easier for us to foster.  At first, they just want to sleep all day long.  And then – the love that they give you for helping them to feel better and to save their life – it’s just amazing!

Bubs is a 5 month old lab/pit mix, and amazingly was housebroken, crate trained, knew commands and was treat motivated.  And devilishly handsome, especially in his new thermal underwear and outer coat!  Poz has always been against dog clothing, but he agreed that since he was so skinny, and was shivering in the cold, that he needed some new threads to help him stay warm.  To tell you the truth – I think that Pozzie was even more in love with Bubs than I was!  He slept with him on the futon, carefully wiped his snotty nose, and called him his “little man” – SO cute.

We only had him for 1 week and 1 day….which I think that might be our quickest foster yet – even quicker than when we temporarily fostered Precious!  Bubs (now Lew) was adopted by a wonderful girl, who I am certain is going to give him the forever home he has always dreamed of!  Bubs – you took a little piece of my (and certainly Pozzie’s) heart with you, but it will stay with you forever.

And once again – To steal a passage from the Lucky Dog Rescue Blog :: “Fostering is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. It’s given me more joy, laughter, and love than I deserve. At the end, there’s always heartbreak. But never for a second does the sadness outweigh the joy. Never do the tears outweigh the laughter. And never does the pain outweigh the love. Heartbreak heals… but love is forever.”

We love you Bubs!!!
**Instagram**   Bubs was thanking me for busting him out of the shelter, snoozing on my lap, and lounging in his thermal underwear  😉
Bubs is saying – it’s freaking cold out here! Can we go back inside and snuggle!?
Bubs with his foster sister, Holly Pancetta – both staring me down for the treats  😉
very treat motivated  🙂
When he wasn’t hanging out with Poz in the office, he was laying at my feet under my desk  🙂
