The days leading up to the wedding, we started to hear nasty words like “rain” “wind” “TORNADO”…very unsettling for an upcoming outdoor backyard tented wedding! But the sound of rain pouring down outside was muffled by the giggly sounds of Graeg and her girls prepping inside. Emotions were running high, as Graeg excitedly waited to marry the man of her dreams. And after shedding a few tears when her dad saw her for the first time, the tears made a few encore appearances – especially when she opened the gift from her groom. Dave had finished the scrapbook that she had started of their relationship, starting back in highschool. I have to admit, that I let out a few gaspy sobs myself while I was watching Graeg look at each page and finally come to the end, where the new chapter of their lives was about to start.
Meanwhile, Meghan spent some time with the boys downstairs, as they enjoyed a few shots of Fireball to get them warmed up for the big party! Dave was cool, calm, and collected, just excited to see his bride, no matter the weather.
While the iPad’s Radar app was consulted frequently, and peeks outside the windows confirmed the skies were as nasty as they sounded, we held out hope that the storms would pass in time for the outdoor ceremony as planned. And prayers were answered, because right before it was supposed to begin, the raindrops slowed…and then stopped. Just in time for Graeg to walk across the lawn, and down the aisle to her beaming husband-to-be. The raindrops held off for most of the ceremony, and I don’t think that Graeg+Dave even noticed, to be honest! So in love, and excited to be man+wife, their kiss sealed the deal!
Guests hurried into the tent to stay dry, but there was no escaping the muddy ground! Many guests decided to sacrifice their kicks, gave in and went with the flow, taking their shoes off and dancing in the mud! DJ Bob Kopik kept the crowd grooving throughout the night, while the caterer Zeffert+Gold kept everyone well fed with yummy stations! And after the Sugarbakers cake was cut, guests oohed and ahhhed over the flaming Banana Fosters for dessert!
One of my favorite vendors to work with – Pixilated Photobooth – was on the scene, capturing the goofiness of the guests with their superfun photobooth props! I highly recommend adding their photobooth to your wedding photography package!
Luckily the rain stopped completely, and at the end of the night, Graeg+Dave made a grand exit with sparklers, and were whisked away to begin their Hawaii honeymoon, and the rest of their lives 🙂
Graeg+Dave – thank you SO much for allowing me to capture your big day! Despite Mother Nature’s unwelcome appearance, your wedding was so seriously beautiful, with amazing details!! And you can tell when you have amazing friends and family, when they weather the storm, take their shoes off and dance in the mud!
